ECORE International, a company that transforms reclaimed waste into unique performance surfacing, recently donated PlayGuard Safety Surfacing to Schreiber Pediatric Rehab, a premier outpatient physical, occupational, and speech-language therapy center for children with disabilities, developmental delays, and acquired injuries, located in Lancaster, Pa. ECORE was recognized for its efforts at a thank you reception held on Tuesday, May 13.

ECORE was approached by a member of the Schreiber Board of Directors about donating rubber tiles for an outdoor playground last fall. "Schreiber had some concerns about their existing toddler playground," said Arthur Dodge, III, CEO and President of ECORE International. “They needed a safe, clean place for children to play. Since the playground is used year-round, when it rained or snowed, the children would get muddy and have to change their clothes,” said Dodge.

ECORE donated 200 24-inch by 24-inch PlayGuard tiles in two colors – a blueish gray and a white/black tone – to cover 400-square-feet. Because these tiles are made from 100 percent recycled rubber, the children can now play without getting dirty or hurting themselves if they fall. ECORE also donated quad block connectors, E-Grip III (an adhesive), and a reducer that was installed at the entrance. All of these donated products equate to a $5,000 value.
